National Instruments SCXI-1304 AC-DC coupling terminal
The SCXI-1304 (Part number: 777687-04) is the SCXI series of terminals from National Instruments. The AC/DC coupled terminals can be used with SCXI-1140, SCXI-1141/1142/1143, SCXI-1120/D and SCXI-1125 modules. In addition to AC/DC coupling, this model has a BNC connector and signal ground reference that can be configured for each channel. The NI SCXI-1304 has 22 screw terminals for easy signal connection. Users can connect signals to eight module inputs using eight pairs of screw terminals and analog grounding to modules using one pair of screw terminals. The other four screw terminals have access to the module’s digital ground and digital signals. For SCXI-1140, these signals are HOLDTRIG. However, for SCXI-1141/1142/1143, these signals are OUTCLK and EXTCLK.
When the National Instruments SCXI 1304 terminal is used with the SCXI-1120/D, SCXI-1125, or SCXI-1126, the channel isolation specification is not valid if the bias resistance is in the engaged setting. The user must keep the resistance switch in an open or G ground setting for the isolation to remain effective.
The NI SCXI-1304 has the ability to configure each channel to either AC or DC coupling through switching Settings. Each channel requires two switches in the same position in order for the coupling circuit to work accurately. For AC coupling, the user must specify two switches as AC Settings, which place the single-pole high-pass filter in the path of the positive and negative channel inputs. For DC coupling, on the other hand, the user must set both switches to the DC position. This eliminates the filter in the signal path and connects the screw terminal directly to the module input.
It recommends operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 to 50 °C and -20 to 70 °C, respectively, and non-condensing relative humidity ranges of 10 to 90 percent. The SCXI-1304 is designed to comply with the following electrical safety standards: IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 3111-1, UL 61010B-1 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 1010.1.
