A servo driver is an electronic device used to control a servo motor, also known as a servo controller or servo amplifier. Its role is similar to the control of the inverter to the ordinary AC motor, is an important part of the servo system, mainly used in high-precision positioning system. By receiving the command signal from the controller, the servo driver can precisely control the current, speed and position of the servo motor to achieve high precision, high speed and high efficiency motion control.
There are obvious differences between servo drives and frequency converters in several ways:
Control object: C400/10/1/1/1/00 servo driver mainly controls the servo motor, which is usually controlled by a coded feedback loop. The inverter is mainly used to control the AC asynchronous motor to achieve soft start, frequency conversion speed regulation and other functions.
Control accuracy: The control accuracy of the servo system is guaranteed by the rotary encoder at the back of the servo motor shaft. The commonly used encoders on the market are incremental photoelectric encoders and absolute photoelectric encoders, which have high accuracy. In contrast, the control accuracy of the inverter is usually low.
Anti-overload capability: The C400/10/1/1/1/00 servo drive generally has 3 times the overload capability, which can overcome the inertial torque of the inertial load at the moment of start. The overload capacity of the inverter is usually 1.5 times, and the anti-overload capacity is relatively weak.
Low frequency characteristics: the servo motor runs very smoothly at low frequencies, and there is no vibration phenomenon. The motor of the frequency conversion system may not have enough torque at low frequencies, which may lead to vibration.
Acceleration and deceleration performance: C400/10/1/1/1/00 servo system accelerates fast, in no-load condition, servo motor from static state to 2000rpm, the time does not exceed 20ms. The acceleration and deceleration of the inverter motor is slow.
Dynamic response quality: Servo drives are generally superior to inverters in terms of dynamic response quality.
In general, the servo drive and inverter have their own characteristics in function and application, and the appropriate equipment should be selected according to the specific needs and application scenarios.
