PROTECH-GII
Hv / Hv, vr, vi
The 8237-1597protect-gii is a configurable speed detection system designed to safely shut down steam, natural gas and water turbines of all sizes when an overspeed or overspeed event is detected. Available in two dual redundant tripping relay outputs using 2-out3
Acceleration detection
The optional Protect-GII can also be configured to protect the turbine from high acceleration events. The derivative of the speed signal is used to detect turbine acceleration and issue the associated stroke command.
Microcontroller inspection
The speed sensor input in each module uses a special MPU on-wire detection circuit to verify that the MPU is properly connected before the turbine is in operation, and a special stall detection logic to verify the MPU’s function during turbine operation.
Automatic overspeed test program
The 8237-1597 ProTech-GII can optionally be configured to routinely perform overspeed tests on each module and then record and report the test results. With this test routine, each module uses an internal frequency generator to simulate the overspeed situation through its test sequence.
Resistance to sulfur pollution
8237-1597 protect-gii uses a special conformal coating material that provides excellent long-term protection against H2S and SO2 gases in the international standard IEC 721-3-3 1994 – environmental class 3C2.
Online repair
The three-module design of the 8237-1597 protect-gii allows users to easily replace one of the modules (A, B, C) when the turbine is online and in normal operation. The plug and play structure of the backplane and the module-to-module learning function of the unit enhance the convenience of replacement.
