The VMIVME-7487 dual-port memory board, or dual-port memory, is a special type of memory with two independent read and write interfaces. Each interface can perform read and write operations independently and without interfering with each other. This means that two different devices can access different parts of the memory at the same time without having to make timing adjustments or wait.

 

The logical structure of the VMIVME-7487 dual-port memory shows that it provides two independent ports, that is, the left port and the right port, which have their own address line, data line and control line, and can independently access the data at any location in the memory. Therefore, it can implement a memory attached to two cpus.

When the addresses of two ports are different, read and write operations on the two ports do not conflict. However, when two ports access the same memory unit at the same time, a conflict occurs. To solve this problem, the BUSY flag is set.

The VMIVME-7487 dual-port memory is suitable for multi-processor systems, communication systems, graphics processing and other applications requiring high-speed data exchange and shared storage. For example, in the enterprise storage system solution based on dual-port NVMe SSDS, a disk can be connected to two different storage controllers. If one storage controller or the link between the disk and the disk is faulty, the other controller can still access the disk, improving system high availability and ensuring service continuity.
